Project Overview
Thermo Fisher TDX (Transplant Diagnostics Division) had been operating at three different manufacturing sites in Los Angeles. Geis and Thermo Fisher collaborated to consolidate these three separate manufacturing facilities under one roof at the new facility. The interior of the existing Devry University was completely demolished, and the 106,000 sf building was converted to manufacturing, lab and office space. A new 45,000 sf warehouse/shipping and receiving building was built next door and connected via a seismically controlled connector. The lab building contains the R&D, Pre-Production, Production, and Packaging groups strategically sequenced around the lab building’s pressure and climate controlled labs - meeting ISO 8 requirements via VAV, HEPA filtration and gowning rooms along with cold boxes and freezers. The lab building is fed with industrial air, N2 and Vacuum systems originating from the large bulk tank and equipment area built adjacent to building. The laba builidng also includes 40,000 sqft of office, large lunch and collaboration/meeting areas. The warehouse area includes a -80C Freezer Farm, 15,000 sqft mezzanine, 6000 sqft -20C walk-in finished goods freezer, 4200sqft 4-8C cooler, 13,000 sqft of 30’ high bay racking and four new loading docks. Powered by a new 3000A electrical service with full generator backup. All utilities and retention pond constructed per the exacting requirements of the CA EPA and local government authorities and both buildings have been validated and commissioned.
